Cheese, Meat and Oysters! Oh My!
April 22nd, 2016
On our last day in Vancouver, we finally had a slightly rainy day. We realized we had been a bit spoiled with the weather, is the sunshine and warm weather is not the typical Northwest springtime. We headed to the Kitsilano area to check out the neighborhood, get some coffee and wander the beautiful homes. We also walked down Kitsilano beach and enjoyed the views of Stanley Park across the Bay, despite some rain. (continue)

Today was another beautiful day and we decided to take advantage of the nature all around Vancouver. We headed to Lynn Canyon to hike a bit and check out the suspension bridge and waterfalls. It was stunning and only about a 20 minute drive outside the city! Then, we headed to Stanley Park to see even more beauty. While both parks were beautiful and full of trees and forest, it was also interesting how different they were. Stanley Park is surrounded by the ocean with mountains views. As we walked the seawall, we continued to be amazed by the beauty around us. We saw amazingly gorgeous flowers, blue heron, and swans in just one part of the park! (continue)
Coffee, Food, &...Coffee

The next morning, we grabbed breakfast at Blue Fox Café, another recommendation from our host. Breakfast was fine, but nothing mind-blowing. We realized how lucky we are in Chicago to have so many food options. We explored Victoria a bit more, checking out Munro’s Bookstore. The store sits in an old bank building and is owned by Alice Munro and her husband. We enjoyed seeing the different Canadian book categories and awards that do not exist in the U.S. We walked through Victoria’s Chinatown, the oldest in Canada and second-oldest in North America, after San Francisco. Chantie's Travels

For spring break, we decided to visit beautiful Vancouver and Victoria, with another teacher friend, Katie. In reality, Katie and Anna planned the trip and felt bad excluding Chuck, so we invited Chuck as the third wheel (Channa + Katie = Chantie!). We are excited for the beauty of the area and to eat all the food. (continue)
