Strolling through Paris…with a stroller

July 6, 2024

Today, we headed over to the island to check out the progress on the Notre Dame. It was sad to see if all covered in scaffolding and we are glad we got to see it pre-fire. Liam enjoyed watching the construction and asking all the questions we couldn’t answer about the fire. We then made our way to Ponte Noufe, the end of the island which has weeping willows and peaceful spots to sit and observe the river. Liam was excited to spot the Eiffel Tower from here and watch all the boats pass. While the Olympic preparation and construction is kind of putting a damper on the charm of the river, it will clearly be beautiful when we watch it on TV in a couple weeks.

Place Dauphine

We then walked to Place Dauphine and ate croissants while Liam ran around. We learned this is the second oldest square in Paris. We wandered up to the 4th district  to the Stravinsky Fountain outside the modern art museum and then found another great park to check out. We are truly enjoying that the parks here let us enjoy the views much more so than back at home.

Entering the Louvre courtyard

We walked up along the river to the Louvre and were glad to see some of the green box shops were still operating because we know they will be closing for the Olympics. We entered the Lourve area from the east side and were greeted by a giant courtyard that let us take in how grand and beautiful the building is. We realized that last time, we never even saw this side of it. As we walked around we could hear a man singing opera and got t enjoy a bit of that as well. We then walked through to the side with the pyramids and were a little disappointed there was no water in the fountains. We then continued on to the Tuileries Gardens. This was a little tough because much of it is closed for olympics. Despite this it is a stunning garden and again we were surprised it was an aspect we didn’t explore last time we were here. Paris has so much to see and we are glad to be experiencing new things this time around! After walking around a good chunk of construction, we were able to enter more of the gardens and yet another carousel and playground.
