Oooh Massageland...I mean Thailand!

July 21, 2018

When in Thailand...you get massages. So we decided to get another today. This one was from a small family owned shop and it was much more relaxing than the first. It was also only $15 so that helped. Anna could definitely get used to these Thai prices for massages back home.

Yeah, you gotta be careful when crossing in Chiang Mai.

We wanted to spend our last day here taking it easy and exploring a bit more. We stopped at a local restaurant and finally tried the local specialty-Koh Soi. This dish is soft and crunchy noodles in a curry soup and it was excellent. We also had a thai style crepe with tofu. Thai food seems to be one type of food we can’t get enough of.

We wandered around the old city again and stopped into an art shop where about 30 artists feature their work. We decided to buy a couple prints from here instead of the markets where the art seems to be mass produced.

Turned out not be a great choice...

We spent the evening at another night market. This one, the Saturday Walking Market, seemed to be a pretty popular one and came up on every list of something you must do in the city. Unfortunately, this also meant it was insanely packed with tourists, every few booths seemed to be selling the same “silk” scarf, wood elephant, or meat on a stick. We also decided to grab dinner here as the last one of such a success, but this food was terrible and we realized not all street food is as good as the more local markets. After shoving our way through the crowds and getting some ice cream to make up for how awful this was, we stumbled on The Pink House Garden on the way home. This was a cute little garden cafe in a yard with wooden platforms and of course got some more thai iced tea to wrap up our night.
