Ta-ta Praha!

National Cemetery
We felt like we had taken in most of the main sites so we were looking forward to a day to take it a bit easier. It was also a Monday and almost immediately we could tell how much less crowded the city was. On the other days, some of the areas we walked through were shoulder to shoulder, today we had more room and it felt more relaxed.
We went to the Vysehrad Castle, which is older than Prague Castle. Again we tried to enter the church but did not want to pay so we opted to peek through the windows instead. We then visited the National Cemetery. It was clear right away that many notable people are buried here by their intricate tombstones, many with artifacts of their accomplishments and some with their signatures on display. We have not seen a cemetery like this and it was interesting to wander through. As we walked the grounds more we realized there was in fact no longer an actual castle here, but other buildings like the rotunda.
Liam’s favorite playground so far
As we walked the grounds more, we came upon another playground to stop at. It was all wood and themed around the castle. It had so many little areas to explore and Liam absolutely loved it. After this, we continued to explore and checked out all the views of Prague. We stopped into a small museum that was within the castle walls and saw a few artifacts of the castle.
We then, walked back to the Old Town area and stopped at another playground to relax at. We grabbed a beer to drink while we watched Liam but by the time we opened it, it was warm. Chuck kept drinking it and looked like a single dad whenever Anna walked away. We then went off for dinner and again were reminded it was a Monday. It felt like being in an entirely different area than two days ago. We were able to take in the sights again and enjoyed them a bit more.
One last walk through Prague
Final Thoughts on Prague…
Despite the crowds we really enjoyed our time here! We would love to go back with more weekdays spent here as if felt like a completely different city on Monday and we think we would have enjoyed that more.
There are a lot of hills!
Again, we love the transit system and how easy it made it to hop around
Chuck kept commenting how unlike this trip felt to those he has made in college while studying abroad. He recalls it being much darker and gloomy and not crowded at all. We think it may be because he was coming in the off season and that in general tourism seems to have picked up in the last 10-ish years.
Parts of the city really felt like a playground for the rich. There were tons of fancy cars riding around and more bachelor and bachelorette parties in one area than we have seen in a long time!
