Liam entered Strasbourg with a blast!

Notre Dame Cathedral

So, here starts a new city with even more lovely parenting adventures. Somehow, poor Liam has been sick most of this trip. He has had a bad cold, followed by two separate sets of stomach issues. So of course pulling into the magical city of Strasborg wouldn’t be complete without him getting sick all over again. We will leave the details to your imagination, but we did have to strip him down to clean him off right on the train platform. What a way to arrive. But here we are, ready for another week of travel together.

Strasborg, even just upon arrival is truly adorable. Unfortunately, the weather is set to be a bit rainy while we are here, but we can tell we will still enjoy it. The city is full of windy streets, half timbered houses, and canals to wander around. On our first night, we stopped at dinner right next to the canal in the Petit Paris area and it was so charming. We ordered some spaetzle, and realized traditional Alsace food is very similar to German food, which makes sense with it’s location. The spaetzle was maybe the best we have had on the trip so far. As we left there was a little pop up concert happening that we enjoyed listening to as Liam showed off his best dance moves in the street.

Petit France

The next day, we made our way back toward this area to wander around Petit France more and check out the winding streets and canals. We visited the Notre Dame Cathedral, which was really something to see! The massive church sits in a relatively small square, so it was almost hard to take in the entire view of it as it towers so high. The stone has a pink-ish hue and such intricate detail on the outside. This was another one of those times we wish we could listen to a tour to really capture more of the details that I am sure we missed just looking at it. As we entered, we were again greeted by the towering roofs and immediately struck by how dark it was inside, which was made even mores by the fact that it was raining. This made the circle stained glass window pop even more against dark shadows. The pipe organ was another work of art with black pipes surrounded by red and gold adornments. We checked out the astronomical clock and learned that we can get tickets to see it in action so we added that to do tomorrow.
